Prior to attaining fame, Chris had worked for his father’s landscaping business and formed a cover band that played in the High Point University cafeteria.

In 2008, Chris’s friend from high school Brent Eliason had introduced him to his uncle, Seth England of Big Loud Mountain, and managed to convince him to listen to Chris’s mixtape. This became the moment that kickstarted Chris’s career as an up-and-coming country music singer.

Lane has affirmed that his single Big, Big Plans, which had been a mainstay on the Billboard Country charts for more than a year since its release in June 2019, has been important for him in many ways.
